Liberty Harbor Holding, LLC Plan of Reorganization Confirmed
On May 12, 2015, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey confirmed the Chapter 11 Reorganization Plan of Liberty Harbor Holding, LLC, Liberty Harbor North Urban Renewal Co., LLC and Liberty Harbor North, Inc. (hereinafter, “Liberty Harbor”). Liberty Harbor was represented in the Chapter 11 case by Daniel M. Stolz, Esq. and Donald W. Clarke, Esq. of Wasserman, Jurista & Stolz, P.C. and James Scarpone of Scarpone & Vargo, LLC. Liberty Harbor is the designated Redeveloper for a 100 acre site in Jersey City, across the water from Liberty State Park and the Statue of Liberty. Once completed, the Liberty Harbor project will transform more than 100 acres of waterfront property in Jersey City from a polluted former railroad freight yard into a modern, mixed used urban neighborhood. The owners of Liberty Harbor are Peter and Lorraine Mocco.
During the Chapter 11 case, Counsel for Liberty Harbor resolved certain “clouds” on the title of the property, entered into various settlements with a variety of parties, sdda strip of property to New Jersey Transit, assuring light rail service to the property and finalized a swap of properties, which connected the entire waterfront for redevelopment.
